Christmas in Amsterdam

by Oh! Paulo

/

about

About:
I moved to The Netherlands when I was 17 to work on building sites. I worked hard and drank harder. I was never actually there for Christmas but I was there long enough to investigate all of the darker corners in Amsterdam.

There is some poetic license going on here but I most definitely used to sleep in Amsterdam Centraal Station after missing the last train to the small town I stayed in.

lyrics

Lyrics:
There's a girl called Monique and she lives behind
A big glass window with a dimming red light
I stop and I ask her, how much can I pay
To say that she loves me, on Christmas day

Christmas in Amsterdam, is no Christmas at all
Christmas in Amsterdam, with a dead-eyed doll

Met a man in the street and he offered me
Some uppers and downers and all in between
I stop and I ask him, how much can I pay
To remove all my sadness, on Christmas day

Christmas in Amsterdam, is no Christmas at all
Christmas in Amsterdam, with a dead-eyed doll

There's a place where I sleep and it's just behind
The train Centraal Station, out of sight out of mind
I'm asking the question, how much would I pay
Just to talk to somebody, on Christmas day

Christmas in Amsterdam, is no Christmas at all
Christmas in Amsterdam, with a dead-eyed doll

Christmas in Amsterdam
Christmas in Amsterdam, with a dead-eyed doll
